Helpful steps for the day you land, including delayed or lost luggage.
Welcome to Dubai. Here are a few helpful tips for the day you land.
Lost or delayed luggage happens more often than you might think, especially on connecting flights into Dubai.

At the Airport
Before You Leave the Baggage Hall
- Go to your airline’s baggage services desk inside the arrivals hall before you exit.
- File a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) on the spot. You must do this before leaving the airport or the airline may not accept your claim.
- Get a reference number and keep it safe.
- Take photos of the baggage tag attached to your boarding pass.
After You Leave
- Track your bag online using your PIR reference number; most airlines have a live tracking page.
- Delayed bags are usually delivered to your address within 24–72 hours at no cost to you.
- If your bag is confirmed lost, usually after 21 days, you can file a compensation claim. Keep receipts for essential replacement items because these may be reimbursable.
- Check your travel insurance policy. Many policies cover emergency purchases when a bag is delayed for more than 12 hours.
